Call for 2022 Presentations: Scholarly Practitioner Research

Call for 2022 Presentations: Scholarly Practitioner Research

The 3rd annual CPED Scholarly Practitioner Research Forum will be held online Saturday, October 8th, 2022. This year the forum theme will align with the #CPED22 Convening theme: Transforming the advanced preparation of educational professionals to lead through scholarly and equity-minded practice.

We are very excited that this year the virtual format will continue to provide an opportunity to expand participation in the #CPED22 Convening to a wider CPED audience -- specifically, students.  This forum is a day for students on their doctoral journey through CPED partner institutions to come together for a series of student-led sessions intended to build a supportive community within the CPED network. This forum is an opportunity for students to present and share their work in progress, along with networking with fellow scholarly practitioners. The student forum is free of charge and open to all students at CPED institutions.

Call for Submissions for a Special Impacting Education Issue:
Reimagining Research Methods Coursework for the Preparation of Scholar-Practitioners

Proposal Submission Deadline: September 1, 2022
Expected Publication: April 2023

CPED's academic journal Impacting Education is currently seeking proposals for research articles and essays for an upcoming special themed issue focused on rethinking the use of traditional educational research methodology courses to prepare EdD students as scholar-practitioners, particularly within practitioner-oriented EdD programs and EdD programs that follow the CPED Framework for program (re)design.

This themed issue is designed to promote dialogue around rethinking the reliance on traditional educational research methodology courses and course design sequences in EdD programs. We invite researchers, EdD faculty, and EdD students to share their current thinking, work, and experiences around how we might reimagine, design, and implement practitioner-focused inquiry courses for CPED-influenced and practitioner-focused EdD programs by curating a collection of empirical, theoretical, and practiced-based articles that address the following or related questions:

Announcing the 2021 Program of the Year Award Winner

Announcing the 2021 Program of the Year Award Winner

Western Carolina University - Executive EdD in Educational Leadership

The CPED Program of the Year Award is given annually to an institution whose CPED-influenced program shows themselves to be distinctive, innovative, and useful to other CPED members. In other words, this award is not intended to identify a so-called “best” program among CPED members, but rather offer evidence of a proofing site that lifts up and features a program’s approaches and components that might stimulate change and innovation among other CPED-influenced programs.

Western Carolina University is an “Experienced” member of CPED with seven years of proud membership. The program is a hybrid (face-to-face and online instructional delivery), cohort model — designed across three years (including summers) for practicing educational leaders in PK-12, community college, and 4-year college/university settings.
