Webinar: A Proposed Framework for Designing Practitioner EdD Programs Oriented Toward
Equity & Social Justice - Part A

Equity & Justice

In this session, we will share our proposed framework for EdD Programs oriented toward equity and social justice. The discussion will begin with the presentation of a program student learning outcome (SLO) that ensures students’ systemic equity capacity in both knowledge and praxis: “Students should possess a deep and critical understanding of the social construction and power relations perpetuating the unfair distribution of access and opportunity by educational organizations and demonstrate leadership competency in the scholarly execution of system-wide, research-supported, equitable and socially just practices that ensure the fair distribution of access and opportunity for all.

We then posit necessary program components for achieving the SLO:

  1. A diverse, knowledgeable, and highly-skilled faculty
  2. A collective vision
  3. Collaboratively designed and delivered curriculum that includes,
  4. Complex, scholarly learning experiences and capstone projects
