In this webinar, we will share strategies to simplify research methods and provide guidance on supporting students conducting real-world educational research. The strategies are grounded by selections from Teaching Critical Inquiry and Applied Research in Ed.D. programs: Moving Beyond Traditional Methods, published by Myers Education Press. This session aims to empower you with the tools and insights needed to guide your students in producing rigorous, impactful research that directly informs educational practice.

Presenters:

Christopher Benedetti

Dr. Christopher (Chris) Benedetti has spent over 20 years in education, including as a middle school language arts teacher, basketball coach, principal, and assistant/associate professor.  As a PreK-12 educator, Dr. Benedetti served as dean, assistant principal, and principal in both urban public schools and rural private schools in Florida.  Since earning a PhD in Leadership and Education from Barry University and moving to higher education, Dr. Benedetti has served as the coordinator for school principal certification programs at Western Colorado University and Plymouth State University.  Currently, Dr. Benedetti serves as the Associate Professor of Educational Leadership at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi supporting educational leadership students at the Masters and Doctorate levels.  Dr. Benedetti has also developed and taught graduate courses in school leadership, organizational culture, human resources, curriculum and instruction, school finance, and research methods.  Dr. Benedetti has presented and published on a variety of topics, including leader preparation and succession, teacher burnout and satisfaction, college student ethics, research methods, and adult learning in online and virtually simulated settings.  Dr. Benedetti continues to examine equitable school leader preparation and its relationship to existing pathways and leader dispositions.

Amanda Covarrubias

Amanda Covarrubias, a native of Weslaco, Texas, was instilled with a deep appreciation for education by her mother from a young age. This foundation guided her educational journey, leading her to Kingsville, Texas, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Her commitment to scholarly pursuits culminated in her attaining an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. 

Currently based in South Texas with her husband, Jeremy, and their two children, Hurley and Priscilla, Amanda passionately serves as an elementary teacher. Her dedication extends beyond the classroom as she delves into research aimed at enhancing K-12 education and maximizing student potential. With an unwavering focus on student welfare and academic advancement, Amanda remains steadfast in her mission to create a brighter future through education.
