CPED Challenge Friday

Mobilize the System: Mutual Inquiry around the Political Issues Surrounding the Adoption and Implementation of Alternative EdD Dissertation Formats

Date: Friday, Feb 18, 2022

Time: 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

This discussion builds upon a topic that was presented at the October 21 Virtual Convening: “Mobilize the System: Mutual Inquiry around the Political Issues Surrounding the Adoption and Implementation of Alternative EdD Dissertation Formats.” That session led to a rich, but very early consideration of what is needed to move beyond the historical 5-chapter dissertation. This discussion uses an adaptation of an exercise designed by Heifetz, Grashow, and Linsky (2009) for analyzing diverse political perspectives in organizations. In this session, we foreground the data gathering and analysis on our EdD programs, faculty students and other stakeholders. This conversation will be guided by introducing, unpacking, and exploring a tool that EdD faculty can consider as they explore alternative dissertation formats.
