CPED May Challenge Friday

 Reconsidering the DiP Doctoral Committee:

Expecting New Results from the 873-year-old Structure?

Date: Friday, May 19, 2023

Time: 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

This Challenge Friday session builds upon our Pittsburgh Convening’s Exchange and continues the conversation around a stayed structure in our Academy: the doctoral dissertation committee. This Challenge session dares participants to think beyond what is familiar and typical in higher education by critically re-envisioning the role, structure and function of a concept that has persisted relatively unchanged for 873 years (and counting). Join us as we refine and restructure our collective thinking on the committee’s traditionality by asking, “How might we leverage the doctoral dissertation committee concept to offer opportunities for new roles, alternative arrangements, and yet-to-be-conceived-of functions?”
