CPED May Show & Tell Tuesday

Facilitating Community Learning Exchanges to understand context, engage people, and for authentic data collection

Date: Tuesday, May 2, 2023

Time: 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

Community Learning Exchanges (CLE) are built on the fundamental principles that any genuine improvement effort must first honor the context of place and the wisdom of local people.  The East Carolina University EdD supports a participatory action research methodology where students work alongside local community members on an equity-minded focus of practice. As such, our students work closely to understand place and people in the context they seek to improve. CLE's have become a staple vehicle for the triumvirate of understanding context, engaging people, as well as a primary data collection strategy.

Three EdD Candidate Presenters along with Dr. Matthew Militello (Wells Fargo Distinguished Professor in Educational Leadership and Founding Director of the ECU International EdD)—all of these students used Community Learning Exchange protocols and pedagogies for participatory action research data collection.
