Engaging Equity & Justice in Your Research Process

Join Dr. Reginald Wilkerson and Dr. Jill A. Perry, Executive Director of CPED as we continue the discussion of equity and justice in educational leadership. In this session we intend to cover identifying problems of practice, considering participatory research methods, and using research to dismantle deficit thinking in education. Join us for an interactive discussion.

Moderators:

Dr. Reginald Wilkerson joined the Clemson University faculty in 2017. His research foci include equity issues in education, reform and improvement in low performing schools, principal support and development, and the nexus that exists among the factors of class, race, and ethnicity in educational leadership. Wilkerson received his Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership and Cultural Foundations from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He received both his Master's of Education and his Bachelor of Arts degrees (History) from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Wilkerson is an active member of both the University Council of Educational Administration (UCEA) and the American Educational Research Association (AERA). Wilkerson is an avid sports fan and a Life Member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. GO TIGERS!

Dr. Jill Perry is the Executive Director of the Carnegie Project on the Educational Doctorate (CPED) and Associate Professor of Practice in the Education, Foundations, Organizations and Policy at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research focuses on professional doctorate preparation in education, organizational change in higher education, and faculty leadership roles. Dr. Perry is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she received her PhD in International Education Policy. She holds an MA in Higher Education Administration and a BA in Spanish and International Studies from Boston College. She is a Fulbright Scholar (Germany) and a returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Paraguay).
