A team approach to the DiP: Advantages, challenges, suggestions for faculty

In this webinar Joy Howard (DiP chair and PI on CPAR project), Charles Sutton (Ed.D. 3rd year student and research assistant), and Tori Colson (Director of graduate programs) will discuss the approach they have used at USI to create a team structure for DiP work. Pulling from a community based action research project, the facilitators will highlight advantages, challenges, and provide suggestions for faculty by providing examples from their experiences. The webinar is geared primarily for faculty and will include diverse perspectives of the DiP structure drawing from administrative, chair and student points of view.

Joy Howard

  

Dr. Joy Howard is a former public school K12 teacher and is currently an associate professor of teacher education. She teaches primariy in the Ed.D. program at the University of Southern Indiana. Her research interests center racial equity and engage both rural and urban education, Black mixed-race youth experiences in schools, positive youth development and critical racial literacy.

Charles Sutton

Charles Sutton is a public library administrator and education doctoral student at the University of Southern Indiana. His research interests include community based research, participatory action research, social movement learning, informal learning, Black studies, critical spatial analysis and arts-based methods.

Tori Colson

Dr. Tori Colson, Ed.D. is a former secondary special education teacher and is currently an associate professor of teacher education and the Director of Graduate Programs in Education at the University of Southern Indiana. Her research interests include inclusive education, self-efficacy, assessment in higher education, pedagogical practices in teacher education, and P-12 school leadership.
