Challenge Friday: Determining Faculty Teaching & Service Loads in EdD Programs

Date: Friday, December 3rd

Time: 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET

Multiple models exist to determine teaching/ service loads for faculty chairing and serving on dissertation committees. As institutions explore ways to recognize/ incentivize faculty work, what lessons have we learned? Are there models that worked well?

In this session, we will discuss the challenge of determining faculty loads, learn from each other, and brainstorm new ideas. Specifically, we will be guided by these questions:

  1. How do institutions determine loads for faculty chairing and serving on dissertation committees?
  2. How is faculty service being recognized/ incentivized?
  3. Does dissertation committee composition matter in the process?
