CPED WebinarFrom Start to Finish: Making CPED Part of Your EdDDate: Thursday, May 12, 2022 Time: 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET In this session, David Hoppey from the University of North Florida EdD program will detail the journey to make CPED principles a key component of their program identity. He will explain how, beyond the program design, CPED principles and ideas are reflected in program marketing, teaching, student outcomes, and more. Student artifacts from the program portfolio that reflect CPED principles will also be shared. Presenter: David Hoppey David Hoppey, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Special Education and the Director of the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership at the University of North Florida. David has over two decades of experience working in a variety of roles across multiple universities. Dr. Hoppey teaches methods courses to both special education and general education teacher candidates and mentors teacher candidates in the field. He also teaches doctoral seminars on special education leadership, teacher education, and qualitative research methods. He has worked extensively to collaboratively redesign doctoral and teacher education programs. Dr. Hoppey’s scholarship focuses on school reform, special education policy, and outcomes of clinically rich teacher education. He has published in leading journals such as Exceptional Children, The Journal of Special Education, Teachers College Record, Learning Disabilities Research and Practice, and Teacher Education and Special Education. He also is a co-editor of a book series on Advances in Teacher Education and co-authored chapters in the Handbook of Research and Practice for Effective Inclusive Schools and the Handbook of Response to Intervention. Dr. Hoppey has served on several university and national committees working on best practices for teacher education and doctoral education including the Teacher Education Division (TED) of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) research committee, the National Association of Professional Development Schools (NAPDS), and the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) Strategic Planning committee. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal for Practitioner Research. David also participates regularly in the CEC Special Education Legislative Summit and Higher Education Consortium for Special Education (HECSE) advocacy efforts. Contact: [email protected] |
