Radford University’s EdD Program Named 2025 CPED Program of the Year
Program of the Year
The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) is pleased to announce Radford University’s Doctor of Education (EdD) Program as the recipient of the 2025 CPED Program of the Year Award!
Recognizing Excellence in EdD Program Design
Each year, CPED honors a member institution whose EdD program exemplifies innovation, impact, and alignment with CPED’s guiding principles. The Program of the Year Award is one of CPED’s highest distinctions, recognizing outstanding contributions to the field of professional practice doctorate education.
This year, the Program of the Year Committee reviewed an exceptionally strong pool of applicants. The selection process was rigorous and highly competitive, reflecting the impressive quality of CPED member programs across the consortium.
Why Radford Stood Out
Radford University’s application distinguished itself through its clarity, depth, and strong alignment with CPED principles. The committee noted several elements that set the program apart:
-
Clear articulation of origins and rationale – A compelling narrative of why and how the program was designed.
-
Guiding principles – A strong foundation that aligns directly with CPED’s mission and vision.
-
Impact on practice, program, and communities – Demonstrated evidence of how the program transforms both the professional lives of its students and the communities they serve.
Together, these qualities marked Radford’s EdD program as exemplary among the finalists.
