Program Description: 

The University of Mississippi (UM) School of Education is a member of the Council of Academic Deans from Research Education Institutions (CADREI) and joined the CPED project in 2011 as a Phase II institution.  The school is divided into two academic departments, Leadership & Counselor Education and Teacher Education.  Currently, the UM School of Education offers Ph.D. programs in Educational Leadership, Counselor Education, Secondary Education, Special Education, and Higher Education.  The School offers a traditional Ed.D. program with an emphasis in Elementary Education.  Three new CPED-influenced Ed.D. programs have been approved in 2015:

1. EdD for Practicing Teachers in Mathematics (for district-based cohorts).
2. EdD with an emphasis in Higher Education
3. EdD with an emphasis in Educational Leadership
