Design Phase: Developing and Designing

Program: Education Doctorate in Educational Leadership

Department: Educational Leadership

Current Mission/Goals: The mission of the Division of Educational Leadership is to prepare innovative scholar- practitioners for the purpose of enhancing the success of all learners. The goal is to transform the program to develop scholarly practitioners who will be the transformative educational leaders in their schools, districts, and institutions of higher learning.

Expected Program Outcomes:

The most important change foreseen is transforming the dissertation process from a traditional scholar to that of a scholar-practitioner. University of South Dakota is strongly of the view that students focusing on problems with a local context will have an impact on their school or institution, many of which are rural. Furthermore, graduates of the EdD program participating in a community of practice have the potential to impact their state and larger geographic region.
