CPED Launches Learning Communities

The vision of the Consortium is to transform the EdD into the degree of choice for preparing the next generation of PK-12 practitioners. We aim to do this by improving the efficacy and reliability of the professional doctorate in education by redesigning all aspects of EdD programs. In Phase I of the project, Consortium members collaborated to establish its foundation - the principles and architecture that allowed programs to begin building context-specific EdD programs.

Researchers and Fellows Announced for National Study to Redesign Education Doctorate

The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) has announced the research team that will implement a mixed-methods, multi-case study to document the success of initial efforts to redesign the Education Doctorate (EdD). The 35-member team will consist of Faculty from CPED institutions who have engaged in the redesign of their own EdD programs and newly appointed CPED Research Fellows who are current students or recent graduates of EdD programs.

CPED has an office! Because CPED keeps growing, the University of Maryland has given us an office. The office serves as a space for coordinating and planning all aspects of the CPED initiative, and houses the project's director, David Imig, and the program director, Jill Perry.

We have arrived in Palo Alto for our third convening. Teams have brought amazing posters of their accomplishments over the past year. Over the next few days well be sharing our achievements and discussing the challenges that still face us as individual institutions and also as a group. In addition, this is the last time we will be with Lee Shulman as the President of the Carnegie Foundation. It is indeed a comemorative occassion!

Our third convening is only a few weeks away and plans are still in the works. Teams are working prework and getting progress reports posted. Our new website has been a terrific new tool that will hopefully take off more after I introduce teams at the convening. We have a great plan set for the convening and are looking forward to another terrific 2 1/2 days of good discussions and good collaborations!
