The JHU School of Education Doctor of Education program focuses on developing the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of the practitioner-scholar who is poised to serve as a leader in the field of education. Students in the EdD are established practitioners with extensive professional practice experience who pursue this part-time, online degree program while still working a full-time job. The EdD prepares these practitioner-scholars to conduct research to examine a Problem of Practice, intervene on some aspect of this problem, and ultimately be change agents within their professional practice. The Doctor of Education program has a residency requirement of three days each summer. EdD program participants are required to have a master’s degree with at least 36 transferable credit hours prior to enrolling. A minimum of 54 doctoral credits at JHU must be completed to graduate.
