The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) is seeking doctoral students - currently enrolled at or recently graduated from CPED INSTITUTIONS - to participate in the CPED Phase II research agenda as Research Fellows.
The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) is a national effort aimed at strengthening the professional doctorate in education. Since 2007, it has engaged some two-dozen universities that have committed resources to work together to undertake a critical examination of the Ed.D. The intent of the project is to redesign the Ed.D. and make it a stronger and more relevant degree for the advanced preparation of school practitioners and clinical faculty, academic leaders and professional staff for our nation’s schools and colleges and the learning organizations that support them.
With a 2010 award of a Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) grant, CPED is focusing on the research and development of its work. Three pilot studies have been conducted and 19 more will take place in the spring 2012. The goals of this grant research are to:
CPED Research Fellows will work in collaboration with the research team to gather, analyze and report on data that have been collected from all phases of the project. Research Fellows will be expected to work in a collaborative and timely manner with other Fellows and faculty and utilize distance communication tools.
While being a Fellow will not constitute any financial award to you or obligation on the part of the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate, travel for data collection will be covered. This will include airfare, lodging, and meals. In addition, this honorary designation will carry the “seal of approval” from CPED and will enable designated Research Fellows to experience and contribute to a national agenda which will offer research and publishing experience.
Given the importance of this initiative, CPED is looking for individuals with the following capabilities:

We expect to award between 10-15 Fellowships. CPED Leadership will determine both the awards and duration of fellowships based on the applications submitted. Doctoral students or recent graduates interested in a CPED Research Fellowship should submit an online application along with a copy of their curriculum vitae and a letter of recommendation from the CPED Principal Investigator at the member institution.
