Where: Warwick New York, Second Floor, Oxford Room
Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) and AERA’s SIG 168 (Graduate and Postdoctoral Education across the Disciplines) are co-sponsoring a session at AERA, April 2018. The theme for this session is:
How Education Across Doctorates and Disciplines Develops Individuals who Understand
and Enact the Dreams, Possibilities, and Necessities of Public Education
This theme requests faculty from EdD and PhD programs, students, and their graduates to submit proposals that explain how EdD and PhD programs are developing individuals who make possible what often seems impossible for public education. This theme aligns with AERA’s theme but diverts by asking how individuals graduating from doctoral programs are conducting disciplined and diverse scholarship; listening to a broad variety of voices, evidence, sources, and perspectives; and building a knowledge base that supports the dreams, possibilities, and necessity of public education. This call seeks presenters who will criticize, debate, envision, and above all, explain how their work in doctoral programs leads to action, improvement, and positive change.
